Keeping your UKey hardware wallet firmware up to date not only ensures you get the latest security patches and feature optimizations, but also provides you with wider asset support. This article will give you a detailed introduction to the two official operating procedures for updating firmware.
Important safety tips and preparations
Before performing any firmware update operation, Be sure to confirm that you have properly and offline backed up the device's mnemonic phrase on physical media.
Although the firmware upgrade process is generally very safe, in the case of extreme network fluctuations or abnormal power outages, a failed update may trigger the safety mechanism and cause the device to reset. If you do not record your mnemonic phrase accurately, you run the risk of permanently losing your assets.
Method 1: Upgrade through the UKey firmware update webpage (recommended)
If you have a computer operating environment, we recommend that you use the official web page to update via a data cable for a more stable experience.
Establish connection: Use the USB data cable to stably connect your UKey hardware wallet to your computer.
Visit official website: Use a computer browser to access UKey Official firmware update website.
Identify device: Click "Connect Device" on the web page. Once the website successfully detects and recognizes the device, it will display the current firmware details of your wallet.
Select version: Select the latest firmware version for your UKey hardware wallet in the list and click Install Firmware.
Device authorization: At this point, an update request prompt will pop up on your hardware wallet screen. Be sure to check your Hardware equipment and physical confirmation on the device to authorize the operation.
wait for completion: Keep the data cable connection stable, do not pull it out halfway, and wait patiently for the progress bar to finish until it prompts success.
Method 2: Upgrade via UKey Wallet App
You can also complete the firmware upgrade directly in the accompanying software client.
Enter device management: Start UKey Wallet App. Navigate to Options from the main interface and select My UKey (My UKey).
Select device: In the device management interface, find and click the name of the hardware wallet you need to upgrade to enter its details page.
Check for updates: Click the "Check for updates" option on the interface.
Start updating: If it is detected that a new version is available, click the Update button to start the download and update process.
Device side confirmation: Follow the subsequent instructions on the App screen. When prompted, be sure to review your Hardware wallet device and perform physical confirmation to complete the update.

What should I do if the update progress is stuck at 90% - 95%? If you are updating with UKey Wallet App and find that the progress bar is stuck between 90% and 95% and then automatically restarts, this is usually caused by fluctuations in client transmission.
Solution suggestions: Please interrupt the update operation of the App and use a computer browser to access it instead. UKey Firmware update webpage, try updating again after connecting the hardware wallet via the USB data cable.
