Written by UKey Wallet

I. Product Introduction

The UKey Seed Ring is a wearable NFC auxiliary device designed specifically for the backup and recovery of digital asset seed phrases (mnemonics). Positioned as a physical recovery medium, it aims to reduce the risk of forgetting seed phrases or losing physical backups through daily wear.

This product is not an independent wallet terminal. It cannot initiate or sign any transactions. It must be used in conjunction with a compatible UKey App or hardware wallet to complete the asset recovery process.

III. Core Features & Working Principles

  • Secure Storage Mechanism: The microchip inside the ring only stores indexes, sequences, and verification data related to asset recovery. It does not directly store the complete seed phrase in plaintext, maximizing asset security.

  • Passive Operation Mode: Features a battery-free design. It is temporarily powered and read by the electromagnetic field generated by an external device only when the ring is brought close to an NFC-enabled device.

  • Zero Network Exposure: No continuous running state and no remote wireless connection. Once the reading process is complete (the ring leaves the sensing area), the chip immediately powers off and ceases all responses, ensuring extremely low digital exposure.

  • Strict Functional Boundaries: Used exclusively to assist in the backup and recovery of seed phrases. It absolutely does not participate in initiating or signing any transactions.

IV. Operation Guide

Before use, please ensure that the NFC function is enabled on your smartphone or external device. (Note: Actual interface names and steps may vary depending on the software version. Please refer to the specific prompts on your App or hardware wallet.)

1. Writing or Binding Process

  • Step 1: Open the feature page on the supported UKey App or hardware wallet.

  • Step 2: Follow the system prompts to enter the "Backup," "Write," or "Bind Ring" process.

  • Step 3: Place the ring close to the NFC sensing area of your phone or device (usually located on the upper back of smartphones).

  • Step 4: Hold the device steady and wait for the screen to prompt that the recognition, writing, or verification is complete.

2. Asset Recovery Process

  • Step 1: Open the App or hardware wallet that supports the recovery process.

  • Step 2: Go to the "Import Wallet" or "Restore Wallet" page and select the option to restore via the ring.

  • Step 3: Place the ring close to the device's NFC sensing area.

  • Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the subsequent operations. (Note: If your account has a Passphrase or other security settings configured previously, you will still need to manually input this security information during recovery.)

V. Important Notices & Security Recommendations

Usage Limitations

  1. Dependent Operation: This product cannot complete asset recovery independently; it must be used with a compatible client app or hardware wallet.

  2. No Transaction Authority: This product does not have private key signing capabilities and cannot be used to authorize any on-chain transactions.

Security & Maintenance Guidelines

  1. Trusted Environment: Only perform write and read operations in a physically secure environment and on a trusted device.

  2. Isolated Storage: Do not store sensitive security information (such as your Passphrase or account passwords) in the same physical location as the ring for extended periods.

  3. Daily Protection: Although high-strength ceramic is scratch-resistant, please avoid severe physical impact, drops from heights, or impact from sharp, hard objects.

  4. Cleaning & Maintenance: If the surface becomes dirty, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using chemical solvents.

  5. Idle Storage: When not in use for an extended period, please store it properly in a dry, clean, secure, and private environment.
