View and backup mnemonic phrases in UKey wallet

What are mnemonic phrases and private keys?

  • Mnemonic phrase: is a set of words used to recover a wallet, usually consisting of 12 to 24 words, following the BIP39 standard. It is equivalent to the "master key" of the wallet and can be used to restore all assets in the wallet.

  • private key: It is the underlying proof of asset ownership. Mastering the private key means having complete control over the address assets.

Backup instructions

  • Software wallet: Supports viewing mnemonic phrases or exporting private keys at any time in UKey Wallet App.

  • hardware wallet: For security reasons, the mnemonic phrase is only displayed once when the device is initialized. The hardware wallet does not provide the "export private key" function; if you need to check the mnemonic, please use the device's built-in "check mnemonic" function in conjunction with paper backup.


How to back up your mnemonic phrase

  1. Enter wallet list: Click the menu button of the wallet avatar in the upper left corner of UKey Wallet App (plug-in/desktop/mobile) and select"Settings".

2. Select target wallet: Click the corresponding wallet entry and select "Backup".

3. Choose backup method: Recommended choice "Manual Backup".

4. Verification and Transcription: After entering the password, the mnemonic phrase will be displayed on the screen.

Security advice: Please be sure to use physical media (such as paper and pen) to copy offline and keep it properly. Screenshots or photos are strictly prohibited.


How to view private key

  1. Plug-in/Desktop: Select the target wallet and click "Edit".

  2. Mobile terminal: Select the target wallet and click "View Details".

  3. Export private key:Select "Export Private Key".

  4. Authentication: After verifying the password, you can view the plaintext private key.
